Blog#10: The advertising of Tokyo Gas

Hello, I'm Akari! I'd like to introduce the advertising of Tokyo Gas Company. Do you know the catch phrase of Tokyo Gas? It is ガスパッチョ. It means ガスで、パッと明るく、チョッといい未来, in English, gas makes a room bright and a little good future. Then have you seen the CM of Tokyo Gas? Tokyo Gas has some kinds of CM, but the most impressive CM for me is Tokyo Gas story series. The CM is a love story of four men and women and I always want to watch the next CM. The name of products is easy to remember, too. For example, one of the most famous products is ピピッとコンロ. Its formal name is ピピッ! とできちゃうピピッとコンロ. It seems to express a high functional and developed gas ring. I think the advertising of Tokyo Gas is devised  to impress us and the strategy is a great success!
If you are interested in the other products' name of Tokyo Gas, I recommend you to check the site.

Blog#10: Apple products

Hi, This is Megumi. Today, I'd like to talk about the advertisements of Apple Products. The reason I chose it is because  I like Apple's  simple and sophisticated advertisements.
If you open Apple's homepage, I think you'll also like it !!

The phrase is so simple that children can understand, But it is the most important thing that producers
want to say.

For example, iPhone advertise, "more thinner, and more lighter, much more things are in it."
iPad say, "mini" means  just the size    show more

At first you'll think it's too simple and you may think you want more information about the product.
But I think it's one of the strategy to attract customer. If we use simple word to advertise something, everybody can understand about the product and curious about it. So It's one of the best ways to advertise something.

Blog#10: KINCHO liquid

Hello, this is Masako. It's so cold today. Now, I'm going to introduce an interesting commercial which is famous in Japan. Do you know the product KINCHO liquid? It's produced by the Japanese company KINCHO, which makes many kinds of insecticide. Since the Tohoku earthquake in 2011, saving electricity has been considered so important things to maintain adequate electricity in Japan, so a lot of power saving products has been made by many companies for resent years. As one of these products, the KINCHO liquid was made. It is the water-based electrical anti-mosquito service, and cuts off 20% of electricity comparing with the former products. I like this commercial because the idea to use a kappa is so interesting for me, and I like this actress very much. This commercial has no catch copy, phrase, and word, but it has impact. Using subtitles in the commercial is so interesting idea, isn't it? There is no catch copy, and it's difficult to remember the company's name, are the problem for this commercial, but the idea is so interesting, I think.

The video of this commercial is it.

If you want to know more information about the commercial or the company, Please check here.
You can see other interesting commercial in this page.

Blog#10 The advertising of "Kappa Ebisen"

Hi,I'm Moe.Today, I'll introduce the advertising of Kappa Ebisen. The snack food is produced by calbee company. I think almost all of you have eaten it, and seen the package design which is drawned a picture of big shrimp. The package is very impressive with  the red color.

クリックすると新しいウィンドウで開きます

In addition to the impressive package, I think you have listen to the advertisisng phrase, ”やめられない とまらない かっぱえびせん” which is sung with a music we can commit to memory easily. After we listened to the music, we can't forget the phrase, and when we go to a shop, we will catch sight of the big shrimp'spackage, and will think to buy it.

Blog#10:The Advertising of "Seven-Eleven"

Hi! I'm Tomoko. Today, I introduce the convenience store "Seven-Eleven". I think everyone have been to this store. "seven-Eleven" has its origins in 1927 in Texas. 7-Eleven branded stores, under parent company Seven & I Holdings Co., are located in 16 countries. The catch copy of this store is "セブン、イレブン、いい気分" and "近くて便利". I often see this phrase in this store. This phrase is very short, but easy to remember and interesting. Because "Sebun, irebun, iikibun" rhymes "bun", if you romanize this phfrase. I think this phrase is easy to understand what company is and "近くて便利"is easy to understand the consept. This convenience store has many kinds of CMs such as sale of riceball and oden. The BGM give me warm feeling. The theme of CM is daily life, so it is familiar to us. If you have never seen this CM, check it.
The link of this convenience store is here.

Blog#9:"Yodobashi Camera"

Hi, I'm Megumi. Today, I'll introduce Yodobashi camera's commercial.  I think almost everyone have heard  Yodobashi Camera's song. The song is used in the commercial. The song is quite long, but the Lyrics and tempo is easy to remember. If you have never heard the song ,  I think you can remember, if you hear it only once. The melody is parody of  the "Battle Hymn of the Republic". In Japan, it is known as "権兵衛さんの赤ちゃん", or " ともだち賛歌"
At the end of the song, same phrase are repeated again and again. "カメラはヨドバシ カ、メ、ラ!!" this phrase exaggerate the name of company, "Yodobashi Camera". So you'll be able to remember the company's name naturally. There're a lot of commercial's song in Japan. It is a kind of strategy to let customer remember a company's name.

this is the Yodobashi Camera's commercial song

Blog#9: The advertising of a cram school "NICHINOUKEN"

Hi! I'm Tomoko. Today, I introduce the advertising of a famous cram school "NICHINOUKEN". It is a cram school for elementary students, who preparate for examinations od junior high schools. It was established in 1973. The reason I chose this advertisement is when I was a elementary school student, my mother knew this cram school and I  began to go there and studied hard. Therefore, I think this cram school became famous by the advertisement By the way, do you know the catch copy, "Change square head into round head", in Japanese, "シカクい頭をマルくする". It mean that "Let's think about many things flexible". we can often see it at public places such as trains and buses. This catch copy  have been sticking to my head and I think it is easy to understand what advertising is. Another interesting point of this cram school is bag. Have you ever seen or heard "N bag". This is the blue bag and the center of it has "N", an initial of "NICHINOUKEN". All of the students who go there use it. I think it is one of the strategy of this company, because many people see the children who have the bags and are interested in them like "what is the blue bag?" or "What the N mean?" Therefore I think it is one of the advertisement. i think catch copy is most important for advertisement, because it can ring in our ears, if it is a good catch copy. And I also think that advertisement have to be easy to understand, interesting and novel to attract the interest of many people.

This is the advertisement of "NICHINOUKEN" and it is always with a quiz like this.
                                                     This is the "N bag".
If you want to know about "NICHINOUKEN", plwase click here.

Blog#9: The advertising of Takano Yuri beauty clinic

Hello! I'm Akari. I'd like to introduce the advertising of Takano Yuri beauty clinic. Of course people who go to a beauty clinic are adults. But the company used a popular child actress as a CM character. She said in the CM, "good arms Takano Yuri, good hip Takano Yuri, good mama エステに行くならたかの友梨に決めた、たかの友梨に決めた!" A part of Japanese changes the English, "my mama decided Takano Yuri if she goes to a beauty clinic."  When I saw the CM in the first time, I was very surprised because I can't come up with using a child actress in a beauty clinic's CM. The company aims people of the age who have a child in the age as same as the child actress, so I think the CM is very effective. Also, the music is rhythmical and the name of the company is repeated, so we remember the company's name naturally. So I think this CM is very effective and impressive. If you are interested in the company, please click here!

Blog#9: The Advertising and the catch copy

Hello, this is Masako Miyahara. It was slightly cold today. Now, I'm going to introduce an advertising that is one of the most impressive advertising for me, and the importance of the catch copy. As you know, the advertising is the common way to tell people the noteworthy things such as the new products, the latest information, or the convenient service. The advertisings are well constructed by using colorful picture, good designed letter, or attractive catch copy. I think the catch copy is the most important element for them. Do you know the catch copy  "キリンさんが好きです、でもゾウさんの方がもっと好きです"in English," I like the giraffe, but I like the elephant better"? I hadn't known that what kind of the advertising it is because I was child when I had seen it, but its impressive catch copy didn’t to be separated from my head. I used to imitate the girl, and the company's commercial song. There are many kinds of advertising, and each of them has a good cache copy. If there is no catch copy in the advertising, it cannot tell people that what the most important information of it is. According to the advertisement production company, the catch copy is made by one foundation called the principle of AIDA. AIDA means attention, interest, desire, and action. The catch copy becomes the strongest tool as "an opportunity" to get the heart of people by using the principle of AIDA. We don't pay attention to the importance of the catch copy, but it's so interesting to think of it, isn't it? If you have a favorite advertising or catch copy, please tell me.

This is the video of my favorite advertising.
The girl is very cute, isn't she?

If you want to see any other interesting catch copy, please check here.

I found interesting homepage that explain the importance of the catch copy.
It's Japanese page, but very interesting, so please try to read it.

Blog#9 My favorite book

Hi,I'm Moe. In this time, I'd like to introduce my favorite book which I read recently. The book's title is "Aoi Tori", which was written by Kiyoshi Shigematsu. In the story, there is a Japanese language teacher. Though he is a teacher, he can't speak language well because he is disabled so he can't speak smoothly with students. However, when he speaks, he says something important so students listen to his speaking eagerly. His words save many students who are holding worry. The book show me that what is really important for my life. Even if we can't speak well, imortant things what we want to tell will reach to people's heart, I thought so after I read the book. I could feel warm things from this book so I recommend you to read this book.

青い鳥

In addition to this book, Kiyoshi shigematsu  wrote many great books. I want to read his works more. If you are interested in this book, I'm very glad. Please read it. This book must impress you.

Blog#8: Creative dancing performance

Hello!! I'm Akari. I went to a creative dancing performance in my high school on 22 September. It took place in Nakano Zero Hall. I met my friends and teachers after the long separation. In the event, students determine music, weave costume and create dancing by themselves in a dancing class for half a year. Only first-year students in junior high school dance an established work Hananoyouni Kazenoyouni traditionally. Our class won the championship in five years running during our school days, so I'm deeply attached to the event. My sister is third-year student in the high school now, so this was her final performance. All performances were exciting and every classes were very high level. Unfortunately, my sister's class couldn't win the championship, but they won an encouragement prize. Then I went to eat with my friends and some teachers and we chatted for a long time. I spent a really pleasant time there and I want to go to there next year too!

Blog#7: Summer Training Camp

Hello!! I'm Akari. I went on my dancing club training camp on 9-12 September in Ibaraki. The site of the camp was old, but there was a big dancing hall. We danced all day in the camp and practice was so hard. After stretch and muscle training, we practiced dancing that we will perform at the school festival. The festival is the biggest event in a year and we will perform four times in the festival. I'll perform five out of twelve dancing and I'm exciting from now. In the end of a day, we danced in its entirely and then recorded it on video. After practice, we watched the video or practiced independently until about 23 p.m, so I was very tired.  At the final night, we had a party and my tiredness vanished. We played bingo and chatted over drinking and eating. Then there was an announcement of the next position because our seniors will retire after the event. I'll be the vice-captain. I'm very anxious, but I'm going to strive my role! The camp was so hard, but I could practice full of dancing and chat our juniors a lot. So I spent a full and pleasant time!

Blog#8:Amelie came to Japan

Hi, I'm Megumi.  From 10th August to 5th September, Amelie came to Japan and stayed at my house.
Amelie is my brother's girl friend who is from Switzerland. My brother got to know her during his study abroad in UK. Amelie also studied abroad in UK to study English. They used to go to same language school.

I and Amelie and my brother went to many place. Mt Tsukuba, Akibahara, Beach in Kuzyukuri.  The place I enjoyed the most is the beach in Kuzyukuri. The day we went there was so hot. But we didn't bring a swimsuit so we got into the water with the closes on. We were in high spirits like a child. We went back home with wearing wet clothes.

When she left my house,  I and my mother cried a little. Then she promised us that she would come to Japan on December.

Blog#7:Study abroad in Oxford

Hi, I'm Megumi. I went to Oxford from 22nd July to 20th August to  study English.
It was my first trip to go to abroad so I was anxious about many things at first.
When I arrived at Heathrow airport, I was very tired because I had been taking an airplane for 12 hours. It was too long for me because I had never taken an airplane such a long time.  But when I took the first step toward outside of airport, everything I saw was fresh. A sign written in  English, a car number written in English...these things  made me excited.

I went to language school in Oxford. In the school, students came from a variety of country.  I made friends with Chinese, Korean, Slovakian, Czech, Italian, Indonesian, and Kazakh!! Especially, I became close friends with  two Chinese girls and one Kazakh girl. We could understand almost everything each other. But sometimes we couldn't. In that case we communicated by gesture or handwriting. We often went out with them after school. We went London, Brighton, Stonehenge. I made a lot of unforgettable memories.

But actually, not all memories were happy. Sometimes I couldn't say my opinion in my class because of  my lack of English speaking ability. When it happened, I felt stressed. And unfortunately, my  I phone was stolen, then I went to the police, but I couldn't understand what policers said and couldn't tell them the truth correctly. I was very disappointed.

The days I spent in Oxford were valuable days. But I thought I need to study English hard.

Biei and Furano are famous for the vast nature, the vegetables, and the flower farms. The flower farm was so beautiful. Third day and Fourth day, we went to Otaru and Kushiro. I'm belonging to a Track and Field club team in Gakushuin, so I went there with my club team mates. There was not so hot compared with Tokyo, but my skin was suntanned because I was exposed to the direct rays of the sun everyday. The summer training camp was very hard, so for all the camp, I was thinking I want to go home early. To tell the truth, I don't like a summer training camp. However, I could keep going to the end due to my club team mates. We gave encouragement each other. I like running because after the trainings, I can feel a sense of achievement so I could a lot of them after the summer training camp.

This is a picture of the same period of my club team mates. They are my valued people.

I stayed many places such as Paris, Orleans and Mont Saint-Michel. The second day of this trip, I visited Mont saint-Michel and ate really famous omelet in there. The first time I saw Mont saint-Michel, I was so surprised to the scael. The night of the day, I went for a walk to see  floodlight of Mont Saint-Michel again. Before I reached there, I could see many beautiful stars in the sky. I was impressed deeply and took many pictures, because I live in Tokyo, so I can't see stars clearly in there. And the floodlight of Mont Saint-Michel was brilliant and I thought that I want to visit here again when I saw it. The third day's night, I moved to Paris that is the most place i wanted to visit. During staying, I went to many famous spots such as Eiffel Tower, arc de Triomphe, Louvre Museum, l'Opera and Palace of Versailles. The most impressed place for me is the hall of mirrors at Versailles. I saw many pictures of this room in materials for world history, but I thought that I couldn't feel this impression before I came here. So I recommend you to visit here at once. Also, photos were saved in your photo album automatically, so you don't have to file them. Second, you can tell your family that you are healthy by only clicking 'smile' mark. Of course, you send a message to your family, too. Third, you can get health information and popular column. Especially, the health information is distributed by more than 150 medical professions. Also, you can share the information with your family in a moment. SNS enabled to communicate with people in the whole world. Blog#5:The Lou Ruvo Center

Hi, I'm Moe. I'd like to introduce Frank Gehry's latest project, Lou Rubo center in Las Vegas, which  is a clinic for brain health. It opened on July, 2009. I was surprized that this building is for a clinic because the design is too dynamic for a clinic. Frank Gehry said that these complex constructions mean the structure of  human brain.

The most interesting charasteristic of this building is that there are "two wings", that is, the building is separated to two parts of structures.

If you want to know the building more, please watch this movie.

The construction started in March 2000 and opened on 16 March 2004. The scale of the center is 713,000-square-foot and it includes five classes of 11,000 square-foot and 625 seats. There are not only classrooms, but also a food court, fitness center and swimming pool. When I saw the building in the first time, I thought it seems a building in a fantasy because its shape is unusual! Don't you think the shape and colors are so cute? I think my school life will become more enjoyable if my university would be such a design!

These pictures  are the exterior and interior of the Stata Center!

Blog#4: Jay Pritzker Pavilion

Hi, this is Masako Miyahara. Today, I'm going to introduce about Frank Gehry's architecture. There are many interesting architectures, but in particular, I like the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park in the United States. It is used for a band shell, and it promotes many kinds of music festivals or concerts, and arts events which are held in annual. It’s so huge architecture, so the main stage can host a full orchestra and chorus of 150 members. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion locates on the south side of Randolph Street, and east side of the Chicago Landmark Historic Michigan Boulevard District. It was constructed between June 1999 and July 2004, and it opened officially on July 16, 2004. It can accommodate 11,000 people, including the fixed 4,000 seats and a 95,000-square-foot Great Lawn that can host 7,000 people, and the sound system with an acoustic design which use the crisscrossing steel pipes that support the innovative sound system replicates an indoor concert hall sound experience is the most interesting its feature.

I think the pavilion is so interesting because not only its design, but also the purpose of using it is fresh for me. I had never thought of that there is the concert or art hall in the park! As you can see, people can enjoy many kinds of events relatedly in the pavilion, and it seems a place of recreation and relaxation for the people. If I will have opportunity to visit Millennium Park, I want to see the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and relax in there.

This is the map of Millennium Park.

At night, the puvilion is illuminated colorfully.

Blog#4:Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

Hi, I'm Tomoko. Today, I'm going to introduce Guggenheim Museum Bilbao which designed by Frank Gehry. This building is an annex of Guggenheim Museum. It was opened in 1997. It looks like a ship or a fish, but, in fact, it was imaged a port town, Bilbao. It is said that this building is  a masterpiece of deconstruction. Since it was opened, a million of tourists visited here to see it a year. So, thanks to this building, Bilbao city prospered. This museum exhibit modern art works mainly, especially, works in twentieth century. I think this building is easy to understand that this is an art museum, because it is a very aesthetic building on the outside. Therefore, visitors can enjoy watching not only art works but also this building. For example, they can take pictures in front of this building as a memento. In short, I like an outward appearance of Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and want to visit here at least once.
These pictures are Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

Blog#3: My favorite character

Hi, I'm Moe Matsunaga. In this time, I'd like to introduce my favorite character, "Cheburashka". Do you know it? It is a character of a Russian cartoon film. The cartoon film is for children, but it is so moral story that adults also can learn many things from it. Cheburashka is not a monkey, nor a bear. Cheburashka means "pattari taoreyasan" in Japanese. I can't translate it into English, sorry.

Cheburashka has many friends and his best friend is gena, which is an crocodile. He is always taking care of cheburashka.

We give a performance fourth a year, freshman welcome performance, spring performance, academic festival and graduation performance. Also, we lodge together twice a year. In summer camp, we are exhausted because we practice from morning till night, but we enjoy fireworks, bingo and so on in the final day.

Hi!! I'm  Megumi Yamada. Today, I'll introduce my favorite two pancake shops in Harajuku.
First,  I'll introduce "Eggs'n Things". It's originally from Hawaii. The pancake is famous for its wonderful volume. Much  fresh cream and some fruits are on the pancakes.  It's too voluminous for me to eat up. There are other lunch dishes in the shop.
Next, "PANCAKE DAYS". The shop isn't serve any voluminous pancakes, but it serves cute pancakes. For example, smiling face is printed on  every pancakes and decorated nuts, cream, and fruit. It is small compared with Eggs'n Things pancake, But its appearance is great.

Hello, I'm Megumi Yamada. Today, I'll introduce my cat, "Mimi". The name comes from ear in Japanese,"mimi". Because her ears are so big.She is three years old, and she has come to my house when she was 4months. Her favorite food is canned tuna. She always eat it at lightning speed!! Referring to her character, she is so timid. When a visitor comes to my house, she runs away in a hurry and hide the closet.

Blog#1: Singapore

Hi! My name is Tomoko Matsuhisa. How are you today?  Now, I'd like to introduce Singapore. Last summer, I went to Singapore with my best friend for 5 days. It was a really nice trip for me, because there were many tourist spots. For example, the area near Marina bay. There are many popular places such as the most largest hotel in Asia 'Marina Bay Suns', the most biggest Ferris wheel which is named 'Singapore Flyer' and the statue of 'Merlion' in this area. Do you know 'Merlion'? It is the symbol of Singapore. The upper part of it is a lion and the lower half of the body is a fish. This is one of the famous place, so many tourists often visit here and take many pictures. When I stayed near here, I took the 'Singapore flyer' at night. The view of the top of it was so beautiful, because the area around the Marina bay was illuminated, so I took many pictures.
This is the picture of 'Merlione'. It is 8 meters long.
Look at this picture! This is the view of Marina bay seen from the 'Singapore Flyer'.
I recommend you to visit Singapore at least once, because this country is safe, so this is a great place to spend with your friends during your vacation.

Do you know this television commercial? This was made a film at the top of 'Marina Bay Suns'. Here is a luxurious hotel!!!
